~omg it’s just that fat bodies don’t make as much money as thin bodies!!!!~
y’all are so fucking dense i can’t even do this anymore
WHY IS IT MORE OF AN EFFORT TO DESIGN FOR FAT BODIES? BECAUSE FAT BODIES AREN’T VALUED AS MUCH AS THIN BODIES. FAT BODIES ARE NOT INHERENT “SPECIALTIES”. OTHERING FATNESS IS WHAT MAKES FAT BODIES SPECIALTIES. IF FAT BODIES WERE VALUED AS MUCH AS THIN BODIES, CLOTHING DESIGNERS WOULD ALREADY BE FAMILIAR WITH DESIGNING FOR FAT BODIES AND THIS SUPPOSEDLY ULTRA-EXPENSIVE EXTRA EFFORT TO DESIGN AND PRODUCE CLOTHING FOR FAT BODIES WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED EXTRA EFFORT. IT WOULD BE CALLED NECESSARY, NORMAL EFFORT IF CLOTHING FAT BODIES WAS CONSIDERED NECESSARY AND NORMAL.
The argument that ‘plus-size’ clothes cost more because they take more fabric is bullshit. If clothing sizes were priced by the amount of material they take to make, each size would cost a little more than the size below it. And if a size 20 would cost more than a size 12 then a size 10 should cost more than a size 2. But it doesn’t. Because your argument is fucking bullshit.
And if fat bodies were valued as much as thin bodies, the extra cost in materials would be applied over all sizes and averaged out to one price. If fat bodies were valued as much as thin bodies, this wouldn’t even be a fucking conversation. End of story.

“MY TURBAN IS NOT A FASHION TREND”
by Khushboo Gulati November 2012 for Sikh Awareness Day at UCLAFighting the rampant appropriation of turbans as fashion statements, where non Sikh folks can adorn a turban and be deemed “fashionable” while Sikh folks who wear turbans are misinterpreted & hit with ignorance & hate for wearing a turban for their faith.
It is disturbing to see white bodies in turbans for this new exotic ~fashionable~ look coming down runways, on fashion sites, up for large audiences to see & feel it is ok, being completely complacent to it.
lifestyles of brown bodies stolen, meanings stripped, reassigned & accepted

BAHUT AMAZING!
